Little Black Dress project

Sometime in February I started to take note of something called the Little Black Dress project. The idea behind it is to wear a black dress every day for the month of March and draw attention to the plight of the millions of children and adults trapped in slavery around the world. Trafficking is a huge problem, that I only had peripheral knowledge about.

Rather than post a picture of myself in the same black dress everyday, or fill my Instagram feed with statistics of trafficking, I decided to draw an illustration a day - all wearing black of some kind.  I have been including quotes and song lyrics, scripture verses and my own prayers to the sketches to draw awareness in my own way.

Another part of this awareness campaign involves raising money to help those on the front lines of this epidemic rescue and redeem the trapped.

I am supporting a21 - "the new abolitionists" run by Christine Caine. - I am also pointing people to the lbdproject itself - not too late to join in, learn, donate and share!

This first sketch was going to be the only drawing, but each morning as I slip on my black dress, and sit down to journal, another image forms.
